James Gunn Gives Superman: Legacy Casting & Preproduction Update

Superman: Legacy director James Gunn has given fans an update on the DC Universe movie’s casting and preproduction.

On Threads, Gunn was asked if he could give any Superman: Legacy updates involving the DC Studios movie’s production. The director responded positively, saying that the process is going “swimmingly” before listing the steps that are already underway.

“It’s going swimmingly,” Gunn stated. “Sets being built, costumes being finished, actors studying roles, prosthetics and VFX models being made, flights booked. Here we go.”

In a follow-up response, the filmmaker was asked how much of the cast was locked in. Through a couple of answers, it was revealed that Gunn has locked in over 90% of the cast, but not 100% as of New Years Day 2024.

The film is set to release on July 11, 2025.
