The year 2023 bids farewell with some really beloved anime. From Jujutsu Kaisen’s distressing moments in Season 2 to Frieren’s journey to the Northern hills, fans have been through it all. But what acts as icing on the cake are the anime openings of 2023. Most of them, being bangers, swept the internet. In all their glory, here are the top ten of the most loved, best anime OPs of 2023.

Vinland Saga, Paradox by Survive Said the Prophet

Fans couldn’t help but gush over the pleasant visuals and imagery that Vinland Saga’s Paradox reflected. Some even believe that the OP is just another testament to the great openings that Vinland Saga has always had. Since the first cour’s OP, River, and its ballad version, already were a viral sensation, fans gave Paradox some time to grow on them. Needless to say, with Thorfinn’s character development that the opening portrays, the song deserves its stellar success.

Oshi No Ko, Idol by Yoasobi

Idol emerges from the duo Yaosobi’s third extended play, The Book 3. With a well-received music video wherein the animation is enticing enough to put the fans through an emotional roller coaster, Yaosobi shone through this song, and deservedly so.

Jujutsu Kaisen, Ao No Sumika by Tatsuya Kitani

Ao No Sumika, the first OP for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, stuck around for the initial five episodes. The music video highlights Gojo and Geto’s bond and their journey as emerging Jujutsu sorcerers. Naturally, given the course of the series now, the OP manages to put fans through a bittersweet ride.

Jujutsu Kaisen, SPECIALZ by King Gnu

Anyone who followed Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 must have “you are my special” echoing in their heads. It’s no surprise how well the OP has been received overall. Although the opening video has a lot of spoilers from the manga, the song has a certain hold on the anime viewers that gives MAPPA the recognition it deserves when it comes to megahit OPs.

Heavenly Delusion, innocent arrogance by BiSH

Widely considered Weilin Zhang’s one of the best works so far, BiSH’s innocent arrogance amazes the internet with its stunning animation. Fans believe that the staff line work and the lighting enhance the overall trajectory of the opening. So much so that it even urged some otakus to check out what the show is all about.

Zom 100: Bucket List of the Dead, Song of the Dead by Kana-Boon

Word of mouth is that Kana-Boon’s Song of the Dead seems to fit really well with the series. Moreover, its sensational and “funky” animation makes one want to groove along.

Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury, slash by yama

With “slash,” yama’s status as a rising Jrock and Jpop-star stands strong. The song’s lyrics are based on Suletta’s perspective, which adds a deeper, darker layer to the opening. Moreover, its animation, along with the beat drop, is a bonus.

Hell’s Paradise, Work by Ringo Sheena and millennium parade

With creative visuals and Ringo Sheena’s distinctive vocals, the OP is an exquisite addition to Hell’s Paradise. Some even consider it a masterpiece, adding it to their list of best anime openings of 2023.

Demon Slayer, Kizuna no Kiseki by MAN WITH A MISSION and milet

Another one of the best anime OPs of 2023 is Kizuna no Kiseki due to the way it syncs the animation with music. Additionally, it opens with the Swordsmith Village arc and is easily one of the top tiers amongst the OP and ED in the series’ course.

Spy x Family, Kura Kura
