The Black Phone 2 Returning Cast Revealed

Some familiar faces from the 2022 Scott Derrickson-helmed horror mystery The Black Phone will be returning for the upcoming sequel.

Set to hit theaters on June 27, 2025, The Black Phone 2 will be ringing once again with Ethan Hawke, Mason Thames, Madeleine McGraw, Jeremy Davies, and Miguel Mora returning to reprise their roles.

According to Deadline, the first movie’s director and co-writers, Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill, are also returning for The Black Phone 2. Apart from serving as co-writers, the duo will also produce the forthcoming sequel alongside Blumhouse’s Jason Blum.

The Black Phone was a Blumhouse and Universal Pictures sleeper hit

The announcement comes after Derrickson revealed that “a lot of conversation” took place regarding the planned sequel. The horror feature, which earned more than $150 million at the global box office — under a reported over $16 million budget, no less — has proven to be a critical darling, with a current 81% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Based on Joe Hill’s award-winning short story, the first movie follows 13-year-old Finney Shaw (Thames), who was abducted by a sadistic child killer (played by Hawke) and trapped inside a soundproof basement. Seemingly helpless, Finney begins to receive calls from the killer’s previous victims through a disconnected phone, determined to spare Finney from the same horrors they have collectively experienced.

Besides the returning cast members and the planned theatrical release date, plot details about the sequel remain under wraps. The 2022 film starred James Ransone as Max, Spencer Fitzgerald as Buzz, Jordan Isaiah White as Matty, Tristan Pravong as Bruce, Jacob Moran as Billy, Brady Hepner as Vance, and Banks Repeta as Griffin.

McGraw starred as Finney’s sister Gwen, who will also return for the sequel, alongside Davies as Terrence and Mora as Robin.
