List of Easter eggs and references in Wish?

Here are all known Easter eggs and references to past Disney projects in Wish:

  1. The storybook intro.
    • The storybook intro of Wish which establishes the lore and characters of the animated film’s world is a nod to how iconic Disney films like Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs start. In essence, Wish serves as a love letter to fans of these iconic films.
  2. The main villain.
    • Magnifico, the main villain of the film is a nod to iconic Disney villains of the past, such as The Little Mermaid’s Ursula, Sleeping Beauty’s Maleficient, and Aladdin’s Jafar as his actions in the film are driven by pride and vanity instead of altruism like he loves to project.
  3. Asha’s friends in the film bear a striking resemblance to Snow White’s The Seven Dwarfs not only in appearance but also in their names:
    • Dahlia (Doc)
    • Simon (Sleepy)
    • Gabo (Grumpy)
    • Hal (Happy)
    • Dario (Dopey)
    • Bezeema (Bashful)
    • Safi (Sneezy)
  4. Referencing Mufasa’s speech.
    • The advice Asha gets from her father in the film where he says “The stars are there to guide us” is a nod to Mufasa’s speech to Simba in The Lion King.
  5. Nod to Pocahontas.
    • When Asha stands on the cliff to make a wish, the wind blows her hair creating a shot that bears a striking resemblance to the famous image of Pocahontas in the Colors of the Wind sequence from that film.
  6. Beauty and the Beast reference.
    • Magnifico’s animated objects are a reference to Beauty and the Beast, where The Beast’s castle houses several animated objects that were once human servants cursed by the Enchantress.
  7. Peter Pan’s Neverland.
    • Magnifico makes a reference to Peter Pan when he crushes one of the wishes in the film and says “How about Neverland.” Neverland is Peter Pan’s place of residence.
  8. The defeat of Jafar from Aladdin.
    • Magnifico’s defeat in the film, where he is trapped inside his staff is a nod to Jafar’s defeat in Aladdin, where he is trapped in the magic lamp he desired and obsessed over.
