Venom 3 Release Date Delay Could Occur if Actors Strike Continues

A Venom 3 release date delay could be on the horizon if the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike continues through the next couple of weeks.

According to a recent report from Variety, a litany of films could be facing delays as the actor’s strike continues. Most notable among those, however, is Venom 3, the planned third entry in the Tom Hardy-led franchise. The report mentions that the film faces setbacks unless production is able to get back together for filming “in the next few weeks.”

Sony Pictures has not confirmed that Venom 3 won’t make its July 12, 2024, release date; however, Venom 3 was only a couple of weeks into filming when the actors strike began on July 14, 2023.

What do we know about Venom 3 so far?

Currently, not a whole lot is definitively known about the upcoming film. Alongside Hardy returning for the film, Venom 3 will also feature Juno Temple and Chiwetel Ejiofor, although it’s unclear exactly what their roles will be in the upcoming movie.

Venom 3 marks the feature directorial debut of Kelly Marcel, who wrote screenplays for the first two films. The third installment will once again feature the Mad Max: Fury Road star in his dual role as Eddie Brock and the titular symbiote.

The untitled project is produced by Hardy and Marcel. Marcel wrote the script from a story she co-created with Hardy. Additional producers include Amy Pascal, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach and Hutch Parker.
