The Walking Dead: Does Rick Die in the TV Show or Comics?

The Walking Dead fans are curious about the fate of its most popular character, Rick Grimes. Does he die in the TV show and/or the comics? Here’s a breakdown of his potential death in the TV show and the books.

Does Rick die in The Walking Dead TV show?

No, Rick Grimes does not die in The Walking Dead TV series. He left the series in Season 9 and returned in Season 11’s finale, managing to survive the episode.

Andrew Lincoln’s Rick Grimes is among the leading characters of AMC’s The Walking Dead series. While many fans are confused about his death, ardent viewers of the show are aware that he is alive and well. Lincoln decided to walk away from the series to spend more time with his wife and sons in the UK in Season 9, which rolled out from 2018 to 2019.

However, his character was only written out and wasn’t killed off. He made a triumphant return when the original series ended with Season 11. Now, he will continue the gig in the upcoming Rick & Michonne spinoff, The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live.

When does Rick die in The Walking Dead comics?

Unlike the TV show, Rick Grimes died in Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead comics in issue 192, which came out in 2019.

Former Deputy Sherrif Rick Grimes was the protagonist in comics, making his debut in The Walking Dead #1. He continued as the leading character for 191 issues but was murdered by Pamela’s spoiled son, Sebastian, who resented the popular Commonwealth hero. Unfortunately, Rick was also reanimated as a Zombie after his tragic demise.

This is something similar to his daughter Judith, who also had different fates in the comic books and the TV show. While she was killed off as an infant in the source material, she continues to live in the series.
