Matthew Vaughn On Why Taron Egerton Should Be Lex Luthor Instead of Wolverine

Kingsman series director Matthew Vaughn has commented on if he thinks Taron Egerton, who stars in said films, would be better as Wolverine or Lex Luthor.

On the Happy Sad Confused Podcast, Vaughn was asked if he thought Egerton should play Wolverine. The director stated that he felt the actor wasn’t a good fit for the character and would be better served playing Lex Luthor.

“I think he’d be better as Lex Luthor,” Vaughn explained. “I think he’d be an amazing Luthor. He shouldn’t be Wolverine, I don’t think. I don’t think he’s right for it. I think you’ve got to more … really go back to … Hugh [Jackman]’s brilliant as Wolverine, but I would go back to what the comic is — go really small, grizzly, tough guy. That’s what I would do. I don’t know who it is but I think Hugh’s made it so iconic that if you go into that — whoever’s trying to do the Hugh version is buggered … I think he [Egerton] would make an amazing, intelligent villain with depth.”

Other than Taron Egerton, who is rumored to play Wolverine in the MCU?

In addition to Taron Egerton, another star who has frequently been rumored to play Wolverine in the Marvel Cinematic Universe is Daniel Radcliffe. Earlier this week, Radcliffe stated he had gotten fit recently but that it wasn’t for the sake of potentially playing Wolverine.
