Underworld TV Show Is Still in the Works

Vampires vs. Werewolves extravaganza Underworld turned 20 yesterday, and it brought with it the realization that there’s been nothing new in that franchise for seven years and counting.

We were supposedly getting a television series at some point, but that was first announced eight years ago. So what’s going on with Underworld? Is there still a future for the series?

Underworld Series Future

Well, in an interview with Entertainment Weekly to commemorate Underworld’s anniversary, creator Len Wiseman confirmed that the television series is still in the works.

Asked if there was any plans to bring Underworld back in any fashion, Wiseman replied, ”There is a fashion that is in the works. I can’t talk about it, but there is a future to Underworld for sure.”

There is only a crumb of information there, but when asked what happened about the talk of an Underworld TV show back in the day, he bluntly replies, ”That’s the one I’m referring to.”

Given the amount of time that has passed since a show was reported, it’ll likely be a very different beast now. But exact details of when it will take place, who is involved beyond Wiseman, and crucially when we’ll see it are still cloaked in shadow.

In the interview, Wiseman also talks about his start in the business, casting Kate Beckinsale, and working on John Wick spinoff Ballerina with Ana De Armas.
