The White Tower: Thor’s Zack Stentz to Write The Wheel of Time Animated Spin-off

Zack Stentz, who is best known for writing 2011 films Thor and X-Men: First Class, has signed on to pen the screenplay for the upcoming animated movie The White Tower, based on Robert Jordan’s popular The Wheel of Time novels. Stentz is no stranger to the animated genre as he was the executive producer and creator of Netflix’s Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous which lasted for five seasons.

“I have been a lifelong fan of the world Robert Jordan created, particularly The White Tower, which serves the mysterious Aes Sedai sisterhood as a capitol, residence, school, and fortress,” Stentz said in a statement (via Deadline). “It was a dream fulfilled to be offered the opportunity to author a new story that takes place within an iconic setting that will be immediately familiar to Jordan fans around the world.”

What is The White Tower about?

The White Tower serves as the headquarters of Aes Sedai in both the novels and series adaptation. The animated spin-off is an action-adventure revolving around a young girl with special gift. The project is expected to take place before the events of Prime Video’s The Wheel of Time series, which is slated to return this September for its second season.

“In the film, her life is forever changed when evil visits her remote mountain village,” reads the synopsis. “Finding herself alone in a dangerous world, she must go to The White Tower to learn how to use her magical powers in order to save her family and friends.”

The project hails from iwot productions and Quebec’s Squeeze Studios. Producers are Rick Selvage, Larry Mondragon, and Zack Stentz. Further details about its voice cast and target release date are still being kept under wraps.
