The Mandalorian Season 3 Posters Show Off Ig-12, Praetorian Guards

Pedro Pascal Details Challenges of Acting With The Mandalorian’s Suit

Pedro Pascal is set to make his return as Din Djarin in The Mandalorian Season 3 next month. Stepping back into the suit, however, is a big challenge for Pascal, and one that takes a toll on the actor.

Speaking to Empire Magazine ahead of The Mandalorian‘s premiere next month, Pascal admitted that while stepping into Din Djarin’s Beskar suit is fun, it’s also not the best costume to wear for comfort.

“It’s like putting on a head-to-toe glove with weights on it,” Pascal said. “It’s ironic that you can’t see any facial expression because it puts you in the world so completely, and instantly makes the character feel real – but you can’t see shit!”

Despite the fact that Mando’s armor has gone through all sorts of upgrades throughout the show’s history, one thing that’s remained consistent is the fact that it’s near impossible to see out of. Pascal went on to note that breathing in the costume fogs up most of the visor, and the lack of peripheral vision also makes it so the crew of the show has to essentially help him navigate.

“They’ve continued to finesse and make it more comfortable, but it’s like going blind,” said Pascal. “Your breath completely fogs up the narrow slit that you can see through. There’s no peripheral vision. If there’s a hole, I’m gonna fall into it…When it’s on, you immediately feel powerful, protected, dangerous, and like a protector.”

Season 3’s directorial lineup includes returning filmmakers Rick Famuyiwa, Carl Weathers, and Bryce Dallas Howard, along with Star Wars newcomers Lee Isaac Chung (Minari), Peter Ramsey (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse), and Black Panther cinematographer Rachel Morrison.

The Mandalorian hails from executive producers Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, Kathleen Kennedy, Colin Wilson, Karen Gilchrist, and Carrie Beck. Favreau is also set as the showrunner and one of its directors.
