Helck Teaser Trailer: HiDive Acquires Rights to Anime Adaptation

HiDive has acquired the rights to the new action fantasy TV series Helck, which is based on the popular manga series written and illustrated by Nanaki Nanao.

In their announcement, HiDive also confirmed that the anime series will be simulcast exclusively on their streaming platform, and will premiere sometime in the upcoming summer 2023 season of content. Alongside the news, HiDive also premiered the first-ever promotional video for the series, giving fans an early look at what to expect from the highly anticipated anime series.

“A certain country in the demon world. The Demon King was defeated by the hands of one of the heroes, and a competition was held for the title of the New Demon King,” reads the official synopsis for the series. “The Imperial Four Heavenly Kings Vermilio, who is in charge of the tournament, is furious at the participation of the human hero Helck, who is supposed to be his enemy. After receiving news of the fall of the castle of Urum before the final, Vermilio sets out to retake Urum Castle with Helck and other finalists.”

In a statement announcing the news, HiDive’s president John Ledford said that this is just the first of many exclusive simulcasts planned for the company.

“We’re thrilled to offer the highly anticipated anime series Helck as a HiDive exclusive,” said Ledford. “This exciting new action fantasy series is just the first of many exclusive simulcasts that our subscribers – especiallyshōnen fans – can look forward to watching on HiDive this summer!”

Helck was originally released in 2014 and ran for 12 volumes in total before coming to an end in 2017.
