Back in Action: Andrew Scott Joins Jamie Foxx & Cameron Diaz in Netflix’s Action Comedy

Fleabag star Andrew Scott has been tapped to join Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz in Netflix’s forthcoming action comedy Back in Action.

According to Deadline, in addition to the Golden Globe nominee, Jamie Demetriou (Cruella), McKenna Roberts (Euphoria), and Rylan Jackson (Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves) have also been cast for the high-profile project.

Back in Action will be directed by Horrible Bosses filmmaker Seth Gordon from a screenplay written by Brendan O’Brien. The film will also feature Kyle Chandler and Glenn Close. Further details about the plot and characters are still being kept under wraps.

The film produced by Chernin Entertainment’s Jenno Topping, Peter Chernin, and Sharla Sumpter Bridgett along with Beau Bauman for Good One Productions, and Gordon for Exhibit A. Executive producers are Foxx, Datari Turner, O’Brien and Tim Lewis.

Back in Action marks Diaz’s acting comeback, serving as her first role in nearly a decade after last appearing in the 2014 film adaptation of Broadway musical Annie, which also co-starred Foxx. The blockbuster actress is no stranger to the action genre, as she previously appeared in the iconic Charlie Angels films and James Mangold’s Tom Cruise-led film Knight and Day.

The upcoming project is part of Foxx’s long-running partnership with Netflix after starring in 2020’s Project Power and 2022’s Day Shift. Besides Back in Action, he will also next be seen in the sci-fi comedy They Cloned Tyrone with John Boyega and Teyonah Parris.
