The news comes courtesy of a new overall report on DC’s projects at Warner Bros. Discovery, with Borys Kit noting that Reeves is looking to extend the overarching world of The Batman outside of just his sequel and the upcoming Penguin spin-off series. The report specifically mentions that Reeves has begun meeting with writers and directors to build out movies focused on the iconic rogue’s gallery from Batman’s history.

While nothing concrete was confirmed, the report did mention that villains like Scarecrow, Clayface, and even Professor Pyg — a villain known to be one of Batman’s darkest and most disturbing — are being considered for films. All of those projects, according to the report, are currently “in the very early stages of gestation,” so don’t expect too much information on those anytime soon.

Up next for Reeves and his Gotham City universe is the upcoming limited drama series based on Colin Farrell’s Penguin character from The Batman.

Set in the world of the 2022’s The Batman, the HBO Max series will focus on Oswald Cobblepot’s past and show his rise to power in Gotham’s seedy underbelly rather than portray him as the established kingpin. The character has a rich history of live-action appearances, as Danny DeVito famously played the Penguin in Batman Returns while Robin Lord Taylor portrayed him in Gotham.
