During a recent appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Diaz was asked about the decision to come out of retirement for the role. According to Diaz, the title of the film immediately drew her in, and despite being nervous and excited, getting back into the feel of acting didn’t take too long for the actress.

“I was like, so hey, guys, what’s the title of this? And they were like Back in Action,” Diaz jokes. “I was like oh! I can really feel very connected to this character already…It’s a little bit of muscle memory, you know what I mean? I did that for so long, it’s kind of like the process — I just fell back into it. But it feels a little bit different.”

Diaz also touched on getting to work with Foxx once again, following the pair’s work together in the 2014 film Annie and in the hit 1999 film Any Given Sunday. According to Diaz, getting to reunite with an old friend was a great draw for the film.

“The last movie I made was Annie with Jamie, and so the first movie back is this film with Jamie,” said Diaz. “He’s so great, he’s so easy, he’s so professional, he’s so talented. And just being able to work with him, it’ll be so much fun.”
