The video offers us our first preview at the iconic puzzle box’s return, which is being used by a wealthy man to his advantage by tricking unsuspecting victims into solving the puzzle themselves. It also highlights the return of the deadly Cenobites as they continue to reign chaos on those who want to unlock their fears.

The newest Hellraiser movie is directed by David Bruckner (The Ritual, The Nighthouse) from a screenplay written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, based on the story treatment by David S. Goyer. The ensemble cast includes Odessa A’zion, Jamie Clayton, Adam Faison, Drew Starkey, Brandon Flynn, Aoife Hinds, Jason Liles, Yinka Olorunnife, Selina Lo, Zachary Hing, and Kit Clarke, with Goran Visnjic and Hiam Abbass.

“In the film, a young woman struggling with addiction comes into possession of an ancient puzzle box, unaware that its purpose is to summon the Cenobites, a group of sadistic supernatural beings from another dimension,” reads the synopsis.

The film is produced by Goyer, Barker, Marc Toberoff, and Chris Stone, with Gary Barber, Peter Oillataguerre, and Todd Williams serving as executive producers. It is a production by Spyglass Media Group.

The Hellraiser franchise is based on Clive Barker’s horror novella titled The Hellbound Heart. Released in 1987, the first film originally told the story of an unfaithful wife who attempts to assist her dead lover in his escape from hell. Pinhead is the franchise’s villain, who leads the sadomasochist demons called Cenobites, who are summoned through an antique puzzle box. Due to its cult following, it was then followed by nine more sequels.

The upcoming film isn’t the only one currently in the works, as HBO is also developing a series adaptation of Hellraiser, with Clive Barker attached to executive produce and David Gordon Green set to direct several episodes.
