Tekken 8 Announced During State of Play

Sony kicked off the State of Play with a fighting game reveal, one teased at Evo 2022. Tekken 8 has been officially announced with a new trailer. It only mentioned the PlayStation 5 in the trailer, but Bandai Namco later confirmed it was coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC, too. No release window was given.

This footage showed Jin and Kazuya fighting in a rainy environment, demonstrating the higher visual fidelity. It had juggles and familiar combos, but there was no gameplay explainer or further details.

Executive Producer and Director Katsuhiro Harada later said on the PlayStation Blog that this was captured from the game’s story mode, meaning it wasn’t a pre-rendered cinematic. He called out the little graphical details like how water droplets form on a character’s skin and the dynamic waves and tornadoes in the background. The battle between Jin and Kazuya will also be a central focus of the game, but players will have to wait to find out more.
