Robert Downey Jr. Now Says There are No Plans for Iron Man 4

Well, that didn’t last long. Just hours after appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and replying “okay, yes” when asked by Ellen if there is going to be an Iron Man 4, Robert Downey Jr. taped “Late Show with David Letterman” and said the complete opposite.

“There’s no plans for an ‘Iron Man 4,'” he said. “There’s no script for ‘Iron Man 4,’ but they do have a plan and I think they’re gonna announce it. You know, [Marvel’s] very secretive about it.” After Letterman later brought up the subject again, he added, “just between us, no, but I’m gonna do other stuff with Marvel. I’m still going to be involved with Marvel and there’s gonna be plenty of fun stuff to happen.”

Downey Jr. will, of course, play Iron Man again in the upcoming Avengers: Age of Ultron and is contracted to reprise the role for Avengers 3 as well. From his quote and what he told Ellen, it sounds like he is in negotiations to appear as Tony Stark again perhaps not in Iron Man 4, but in another film that has not been announced yet.
