Based on a True Story: Kaley Cuoco to Lead Peacock’s Dark Comedy Series

According to Deadline, The Flight Attendant star Kaley Cuoco has officially signed on for the leading role in Peacock’s forthcoming dark comedy thriller titled Based on a True Story, which hails from executive producer Jason Bateman. The Emmy nominated actress is expected to portray the role of Ava Bartlett, who, according to the outlet, will be appearing in two seasons of the series.

Based on a True Story will be written and executive produced by Craig Rosenberg (The Boys), who will also be set as showrunner. “Inspired by a bizarre true event, the series is about a realtor, a plumber, and a former tennis star whose lives unexpectedly collide, exposing America’s obsession with true crime, murder, and the slow close toilet seat,” reads the synopsis.

Executive producers are Michael Costigan and Roxie Rodriguez for Aggregate Films. It will be a production by UCP.

Cuoco gained recognition for starring in CBS’ popular sitcom The Big Bang Theory, which ran on-air for 12 seasons from 2007 to 2019. For her leading performance during the first season of The Flight Attendant, Cuoco earned her first Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress in a TV Series – Musical or Comedy. She will next be seen in the romantic comedy film Meet Cute and in the action thriller film Role Play.
