The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent Trailer: Nicolas Cage Teams With Pedro Pascal

Lionsgate has dropped the red band The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent trailer for the upcoming action-comedy, which stars Oscar winner Nicolas Cage as a fictionalized version of himself. The video features Cage as he struggles with the current state of his acting career which will lead him to accept a $1 million appearance deal where he must attend a party to meet his biggest fan, played by Pedro Pascal.

The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on April 22, 2022. Its current theatrical release will pit it against two competitors in the form of Universal Pictures’ animated film The Bad Guys, and Robert Eggers’ star-studded revenge thriller The Northman.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent is directed by Tom Gormican from a screenplay he co-wrote with Kevin Etten. The action-comedy pic stars Cage, Pascal, Tiffany Haddish, Neil Patrick Harris, and Ike Barinholtz.

“Creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin, the fictionalized version of Cage must accept a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan,” reads the synopsis. “Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters in order to save himself and his loved ones. With a career built for this very moment, the seminal award-winning actor must take on the role of a lifetime: Nicolas Cage.”

The film will reportedly include nods to a number of Cage’s iconic films such as Leaving Las VegasFace-Off, and Gone in 60 Seconds.
