MLB The Show 22 MVP Edition Features Artwork From Afro Samurai Creator

After unveiling MLB superstar Shohei Ohtani as the cover athlete of the upcoming MLB the Show 22, PlayStation announced an MVP Edition of the game, complete with artwork of Ohtani by acclaimed artist Takashi Okazaki.

The announcement of the MVP Edition of MLB The Show 22 comes alongside a new video, done in an anime style, showcasing Ohtani pitching against himself as a hitter. Check out the video for MLB The Show 22‘s MVP Edition below:

Okazaki is no stranger to the world of anime, as he’s famously known for creating the Afro Samurai manga series. Okazaki has also worked with PlayStation in the past as well, where he created special posters ahead of Ghost of Tsushima‘s release in 2020.

The MVP Edition of MLB The Show 22 features Okazaki’s artwork printed on a Steelbook, and is available for pre-order now for $84.99. It will also include the full game on PlayStation 4, as well as a digital voucher for the PlayStation 5 game, and several downloadable content packs for MLB The Show 22‘s Diamond Dynasty mode.

MLB The Show 22 is coming out on April 5 on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, and Nintendo Switch. All three versions of MLB The Show 22 will also feature cross-progression and cross-play. This means that any content players earn in modes like Diamond Dynasty or Road to the Show will be transferrable to any platform.
