Thandiwe Newton in Talks to Join HBO Max’s Magic Mike 3

Following the recent confirmation of Magic Mike’s Last Dance, it looks like Warner Bros. Pictures has already started filling out the cast who will be joining Channing Tatum in the forthcoming third installment. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Emmy-winning actress Thandiwe Newton is currently in negotiations to star in Steven Soderbergh’s newest HBO Max feature.

Further details about her potential character are still being kept under wraps, but the Westworld star is expected to signed on for the female lead opposite Tatum, who is reprising his role as Mike Lane.

Magic Mike 3 will be directed by Steven Soderbergh from a screenplay written by Reid Carolin. Further details about its plot and characters are still being kept under wraps. As of now, only Channing Tatum is the only confirmed returning original cast member.

Loosely inspired by Tatum’s own experiences as a stripper, the films previously starred Matthew McConaughey, Joe Manganiello, Matt Bomer, Kevin Nash, Gabriel Iglesias, Adam Rodriguez, and more. The franchise currently has a combined worldwide gross of nearly $300 million.
