According to Deadline, Universal Pictures has successfully acquired the rights to The Bourne Ultimatum scribe George Nolfi’s upcoming original biographical drama, which will be based on true events about the American government’s Afghanistan evacuation. Inspired by recently reported stories, the untitled project will center around three former special forces team members who jump back into the fray alongside their Afghan counterparts, to rescue families and allies left behind amid the rapid fall of Afghanistan last August.

In addition to starring, Hardy and Tatum will also be serving as producers along with Free Association’s Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan. Nolfi is expected to executive produce, with Senior Vice President of Production Ryan Jones set to oversee the project on behalf of Universal Pictures.
