For players looking to go back in time and experience Super Mario 64 as originally intended, the patch allows for it to be controlled with the N64 controller. In fact, the Nintendo 64 controller now works on all three titles. According to a recent update from Nintendo, the controls on the Nintendo 64 controller will match those from the original games, although certain buttons available in Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy will not be properly reflected on the older controller format.

For those who were lucky enough to pick up one of the Nintendo 64 controllers, pairing them with your Switch is fairly simple. Simply navigate to the Controllers section of the Nintendo Switch setting and hold down the sync button on the Nintendo 64 controller. For those looking to play in a wired connection, you’re also able to plug the controller into the back of the Nintendo Switch dock and play that way.
