The French Dispatch Clip Stars Frances McDormand & Timothée Chalamet 

Searchlight Pictures has released the first clip from Wes Anderson’s long-delayed feature The French Dispatch, which features two of the comedic drama’s A-list stars. The film had its world premiere yesterday at the 2021 Cannes Film Festival. It is currently slated to arrive in theaters on October 22, 2021, which pits it against another high-profile competitor in the form of Warner Bros. Pictures’ newest film adaptation of Dune which is also being led by Timothée Chalamet.

The French Dispatch clip, which you can check out below, begins with Frances McDormand’s Lucinda Krementz, a journalist who is seen wiping her ruined mascara in a bathroom. She soon realizes that she’s not alone as she discovers that Chalamet’s Zeffirelli is taking a bath in the tub while writing a manifesto.

The French Dispatch is described as a love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional 20th-century French city centering on three storylines that bring to life a collection of stories published in “The French Dispatch” magazine.

The A-List ensemble includes Oscar winners Frances McDormand, Benicio Del Toro, Adrien Brody (The Pianist), and Tilda Swinton along with Oscar nominees Timothée Chalamet, Bill Murray (Lost in Translation), and Owen Wilson. Léa Seydoux, Lyna Khoudri, Jeffrey Wright, Mathieu Amalric, Stephen Park are also starring in the film along with Liev Schreiber, Elisabeth Moss, Edward Norton, Willem Dafoe, Lois Smith, Saoirse Ronan, Christoph Waltz, Anjelica Huston, Jason Schwartzman, Henry Winkler, and more.

The French Dispatch is written and directed by Wes Anderson from a story by Anderson, Roman Coppola, Jason Schwartzman, and Hugo Guinness. The movie is independently financed by billionaire Steve Rales of Indian Paintbrush, who regularly backs Anderson’s projects.
