Timothée Chalamet Promotes Wonka in New SNL Promotional Clip

Now that the actors’ strike has ended, Timothée Chalamet — who will serve as this week’s Saturday Night Live host — took the opportunity to promote his newest film venture, Wonka.

In the 50-second clip, the Dune actor stood alongside SNL cast member Bowen Yang and musical guest boygenius, which consists of Phoebe Bridgers, Lucy Dacus, and Julien Baker. Joking about how he can finally promote his upcoming movie, the “chocolate man” also asked the indie supergroup how they were “excited” and having a “blast” when their group’s thing is “being all sad,” to which boygenius’ Baker responded: “Only our music. In real life, we’re quite happy people.”

Known as this generation’s most recognized actor, Chalamet has appeared in various critically acclaimed features, including the sci-fi epic Dune, Call Me by Your Name, Little Women, Lady Bird, and The French Dispatch, to mention a few. You can watch the SNL promo below:

What is Wonka about?

Making its way to theaters on December 15, the upcoming adaptation of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory will focus on Willy Wonka’s younger years and how he came to establish a huge and successful chocolate empire.

“Wonka tells the wondrous story of how the world’s greatest inventor, magician and chocolate-maker became the beloved Willy Wonka we know today,” the synopsis reads. “This irresistibly vivid and inventive big screen spectacle will introduce audiences to a young Willy Wonka, chock-full of ideas and determined to change the world one delectable bite at a time—proving that the best things in life begin with a dream, and if you’re lucky enough to meet Willy Wonka, anything is possible.”

Helmed by Paul King, Wonka features an ensemble cast of Hugh Grant — who will star in the film as the orange-colored Oompa-Loompa — Keegan-Michael Key, Calah Lane, Paterson Joseph, Matt Lucas, Olivia Colman, Sally Hawkins, and the legendary actor Rowan Atkinson.

The actor’s SNL episode will premiere on November 11 at 11:30 p.m. EST on NBC and Peacock.
