During WitcherCon, the first teaser for the anime feature The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf was released, which you can check out below, along with the announcement that the movie will debut on August 23, 2021, on the streamer.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, from Studio Mir, focuses on Geralt’s mentor Vesemir. A tour of the famous Kaer Morhen with The Witcher showrunner and executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich was also released. Kaer Morhen has long been the sanctuary of Geralt and his witcher brothers; but what’s the history behind this ancient castle and its place in witcher mythology? See how Kaer Morhen was brought to life for The Witcher Season 2, The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf anime film, and the video games below:

In the books, Vesemir is the mentor and a father figure for Geralt of Rivia. The story will explore his early years as a Witcher after the mysterious Deglan claims him through the Law of Surprise.

The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf is set to expand the world of The Witcher as it explores a powerful new threat facing The Continent. The anime film is produced by Studio Mir, the Korean animation studio behind Nickelodeon’s Legend of Korra, and Netflix’s original anime series Voltron Legendary Defender.

Nightmare of the Wolf will be produced by the original series’ executive producers Lauren Schmidt Hissrich and Beau DeMayo.
