Paramount+’s iCarly Revival Addresses Sam’s Absence in First Episode

Following the official announcement of the iCarly revival, fans of the iconic Nickelodeon sitcom have immediately rejoiced with the show’s return, especially when the main cast including Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress were confirmed to reprise their roles as Carly, Spencer, and Freddie. However, most of them got disappointed when they found out that Jennette McCurdy’s fan-favorite character Sam Puckett won’t be included in the upcoming Paramount+ revival as the actress previously revealed that she had retired from acting. Many are wondering how would the new series addressed Sam’s absence, especially when the character was such a big part of the original sitcom.

In a recent interview with EW, The School of Rock alum confirmed that the new iCarly will indeed explain Sam’s absence, revealing that fans should expect to get an answer about Sam’s whereabouts in the first episode. In addition, Cosgrove also teased that the revival will also get to explore the romantic tension between Freddy and Carly, who shared a kiss during the original series finale.

“Definitely, we touch a lot on the whole relationship with Sam and where Sam’s at in the pilot episode,” Cosgrove teased. “And then we mention her a little bit throughout the season, so we’ll definitely explain that on the show.”
