As previously reported, in response to the murder of George Floyd, the final season has been redeveloped a few times with the original plan for the season scrapped and reworked in order for the police workplace comedy to address police brutality. In addition, showrunner Dan Goor previously confirmed that the final season will also cover the ongoing pandemic.

Season 8 of Brooklyn Nine-Nine follows NYPD’s 99th Precinct’s Det. Jake Peralta (Andy Samberg) and Capt. Raymond Holt (Andre Braugher) and their lovable colleagues as they balance their personal and professional lives over the course of a difficult year.

The award-winning series also stars Melissa Fumero, who plays Sgt. Amy Santiago, an expert at organizing and dork dancing, and Terry Crews, who plays gentle giant Lt. Terry Jeffords. Joe Lo Truglio plays the hopelessly hardworking Det. Charles Boyle, Stephanie Beatriz plays the tough and secretive Rosa Diaz, and Joel McKinnon Miller, and Dirk Blocker return as veteran officers Det. Scully and Det. Hitchcock.
