The CW’s The Flash is losing two original cast members, as Deadline reports that both Tom Cavanagh and Carlos Valdes are exiting the series after its seventh season concludes.

According to the report, Valdes, who plays Cisco Roman, will end his run as a series regular during the superhero drama’s current seventh season. Cavanagh, who has played Eobard Thawne/Reverse-Flash and Harrison Wells, was originally slated to end his run during the sixth season. Instead, the COVID-19 pandemic hit and forced many shoes, including The Flash, to cut their season short.

As a result of that, Cavanagh has not been in the show since Episode 3 of Season 7, titled “Mother.” Thankfully for fans looking for more definitive closure, The Flash’s producers have confirmed that Cavanagh would be appearing in the show again at some point in the seventh season. However, there are no plans for Cavanagh to continue on the show beyond that at the moment.

“Tom and Carlos have been an integral part of our show for seven seasons and will be greatly missed,” The Flash executive producer/showrunner Eric Wallace said in a statement to Deadline. “Both are incredible talents who created beloved characters that fans and audiences around the world have come to love. Which is why we are happily keeping the door open for return appearances.”
