WandaVision Director Addresses Fan Theories For Last Episode

WandaVision director addresses the fan theories for the last episode

Ahead of the highly-anticipated finale of WandaVision this coming Friday, director Matt Shakman has opened up about the many fan theories circulating regarding the Disney+ show’s upcoming ninth episode. Speaking with EW, Shakman reveals that he knows a lot of people who follow these theories will be disappointed but he hopes that they still find the WandaVision finale surprising and satisfying.

“I hope that they feel like the journey was satisfying for them,” Shakman said. “I know there are so many theories out there; there will be a lot of people who will no doubt be disappointed by one theory or another.”

He continued, “But we’re always telling this story about Wanda dealing with grief and learning how to accept that loss, and hopefully people will find that the finale is surprising but also satisfying and that it feels inevitable because it’s the same story they’ve been watching the whole time.”

In a separate interview with Comic Book, he also got the chance to address the popular aerospace engineer speculations, seemingly confirming that the mystery character’s identity won’t be revealed in the last episode and that it might not be Reed Richards.

I mean, certainly the amount of passion around the aerospace engineer certainly was one that was pretty great,” Shakman. “I mean, sure, it would’ve been great if Reed Richards had showed up in that room, that would have been pretty great.”

WandaVision will follow the story of Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany’s superhero characters Scarlet Witch and Vision. The series blends the style of classic sitcoms with the Marvel Cinematic Universe in which Wanda Maximoff and Vision—two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives—begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

Joining Olsen and Bettany are Kathryn Hahn as Agnes, and Teyonah Parris as Monica Rambeau, who was introduced to audiences in Captain Marvel. Kat Dennings will reprise her role as Darcy from Thor and Thor: The Dark World, and Randall Park will reprise his role as Jimmy Woo from Ant-Man and The Wasp.
