Scott Derrickson Teases Next Horror Film After Doctor Strange 2

Doctor Strange director Scott Derrickson took to Twitter to address fan questions on when will he be able to direct another R-rated horror film. In his post, he officially confirmed that he is indeed set to return to the horror genre after his directing stint for Marvel Studios’ highly anticipated Doctor Strange sequel titled Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which is set for release on May 2021.

Derrickson further revealed that the he has already written the script for his next horror project with frequent collaborator C. Robert Cargill, who is also known for co-writing 2016’s Doctor Strange. Cargill has also tweeted his response to Derrickson, teasing that their new horror project is a film adaptation of one of author Joe Hill’s stories.

Derrickson is best known for directing horror films such as: 2005’s supernatural horror film The Exorcism of Emily Rose which starred Laura Linney and Tom Wilkinson; Summit Entertainment’s Sinister starring Ethan Hawke; Deliver Us from Evil which was produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Last July at the 2019 San Diego Comic Con, Derrickson had described that the forthcoming Doctor Strange sequel will be the first horror film in the MCU with with Oscar nominee Benedict Cumberbatch returning as the titular sorcerer supreme and Elizabeth Olsen also appearing as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch. Olsen and Tom Hiddleston’s upcoming Disney+ shows WandaVision and Loki are set to directly impact the events of the Doctor Strange sequel.
