The Spy First Look Images: Netflix Sets Premiere For New Limited Series

Netflix has announced the premiere date for their upcoming six-episode limited series The Spy, based on the real-life story of Eli Cohen’s experiences as a spy for Israel in Syria in the early 1960s. Starring Sacha Baron Cohen (The Dictator, Who is America?), the series will be available for streaming on September 6, exclusively on Netflix. The announcement also came with the release of the series’ first look images which you can check out in the gallery below.

Written and directed by Emmy winner Gideon Raff (Tyrant), The Spy will follow the story of former Mossad agent, Eli Cohen, who is one of the most legendary spies in the world. Cohen lived in Damascus undercover at the beginning of the ’60s, spying for Israel. He managed to embed himself into Syrian high society and rise through the ranks of their politics. His actions, connections and immense sacrifice have had lasting consequences, shaping the Middle East of today.

The limited series will also star Noah Emmerich (The Americans) as Eli’s Mossad handler Dan Peleg, Hadar Ratzon Rotem (Homeland) as Eli’s wife Nadia, and Waleed Zuaiter (Colony) as military officer Amin Al-Hafz. It will be produced by Légende Films and Alain Goldman.

Sacha Baron Cohen is most known for his comedic satire roles, acquiring worldwide recognition for his work in Borat and Bruno. His feature credits also include Les Miserables, Hugo, The Dictator, and the Madagascar franchise.
