Uma Thurman’s Horror Drama Chambers Cancelled at Netflix

Following the series debut of Uma Thurman’s Chambers last April, Variety reports that Netflix has decided not to renew the supernatural horror drama for a second season.

“Chambers will not return for a second season,” Netflix said in a statement. “We’re grateful to creator and showrunner Leah Rachel for bringing this story to us and to her fellow executive producers Alfonso Gomez Rejon, Steve Gaghan from Super Emotional, Winnie Kemp and Wolfgang Hammer from Super Deluxe, and Jennifer Yale. We’re also thankful to the tireless crew, and to our incredible cast, especially Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn and talented newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose.”

Chambers centers on a young heart attack survivor named Sasha, who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor’s sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister. Thurman will play Nancy, the mother of the heart donor who forges a hesitant relationship with the young recipient only to find her daughter may not be as dead as she thought.

The series was created and written by Leah Rachel who will showrun alongside Akela Cooper. The series landed a 10-episode straight-to-series-order by Netflix and will be executive produced by Steve Gaghan via Super Emotional alongside Rachel and Cooper as well as Wolfgang Hammer and Winnie Kemp of Super Deluxe. Alfonso Gomez-Rejon will direct the pilot and is also executive producing alongside Jennifer Yale.
