Anna Paquin Joins Final Season of Showtime’s The Affair

Oscar-winning actress Anna Paquin (True Blood) has joined the cast of the fifth and final season of the acclaimed Showtime drama The Affair in a series regular role.

Paquin will appear as the adult daughter of Alison (Ruth Wilson) and Cole (Joshua Jackson) Joanie Lockhart, and will follow her in the future as she travels to a climate-change ravaged Montauk, New York to find out the truth behind the death of her mother, which will bring the series’ story full circle.

The 36-year-old actress is well-known for her work in the X-Men film franchise as Rogue as well as the HBO supernatural horror series True Blood, which earned her numerous award nominations and a Golden Globe win. Paquin is currently set to star in the upcoming dramedy miniseries Flack for Pop, which is set to debut sometime next year, and in the British drama Tell It to the Bees, which debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival, and the biographical crime thriller The Irishman from Martin Scorcese, which is in post-production and set for a Netflix release sometime next year.

The Affair stars Golden Globe nominee Dominic West, Golden Globe winner Ruth Wilson, Emmy Award nominee, and Golden Globe winner Maura Tierney and Screen Actors Guild Award nominee Joshua Jackson. Guest stars include Sanaa Lathan, Ramon Rodriguez, Russell Hornsby, Christopher Meyer, Amy Irving, and Phoebe Tonkin.

The Affair explores the emotional and psychological effects of an affair that destroyed two marriages, and the crime that brings these individuals back together. Season four finds Noah (West), Helen (Tierney), Alison (Wilson) and Cole (Jackson) in their own orbits, alienated from each other, spinning further and further away from where they all began. Every character is involved in a new relationship, forcing them even to decide if they’re ready and willing to leave the past behind for good – with a season about new beginnings, tragic ends and the ever-elusive possibility of forgiveness.
Writers Guild Award-winning playwright and writer/producer Sarah Treem (House of Cards, In Treatment) and Hagai Levi (In Treatment) created the series. Treem, also the showrunner, and Levi serve as executive producers. Jessica Rhoades is an executive producer on season four.

The fifth season of The Affair is set to debut sometime in 2019.
