Monster Hunter Animated Special to Debut in 2019

Capcom has announced they will be partnering up with Pure Imagination Studios to create an animated special that will be an adaptation of their Monster Hunter universe. Titled Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild, the special will follow a fearless young man dedicated to gaining recognition as a monster hunter, but in his path awaits an Elder Dragon who has its sights set on his village.

“With Monster Hunter, our talented and diverse group of animators, storytellers and producers, who have created content for LEGO, Marvel and Star Wars, are collaborating with Capcom to create a powerful and engaging story universe to serve its enormous global fanbase,” said John P. Roberts, CCO of Pure Imagination Studios.

The two companies will be producing and co-financing the animated special with Pure Imagination overseeing domestic and international sales.  Production is schedule to be completed this upcoming Winter and the global premiere for Monster Hunter: Legends of the Guild set for sometime in 2019.

“We are thrilled to return fans to the universe of “Monster Hunter” and expand the series’ rich lore,” said Monster Hunter Series Producer, Ryozo Tsujimoto. “We think die-hard fans will appreciate our dedication to the source material while those uninitiated to the series will still be treated to an epic adventure in a wholly unique world.”

However, this is not Capcom’s first rodeo in creating an animated series for one its flagship titles. A Japanese anime series titled Monster Hunter Stories: Ride On was released in 2016 airing on the Japanese based television station, FujiTv.

Capcom initially released its first title of the critically-acclaimed series in 2004 and it’s latest release, Monster Hunter: World is the company’s fastest selling title in its history. You can get your own copy of the game by clicking here!
