Fox Developing The Spectre TV Adaptation

Fox has bought the rights to The Spectre, a drama series to be based on the DC Comics character co-created by Jerry Siegel and Bernard Baily, reports Deadline. The character first appeared in a next issue ad in “More Fun Comics” #51 (January, 1940) and received his first story the following month, #52.

The site says that Brandon Camp (“John Doe”) will write the adaptation and executive produce with Bill Gerber (Gran Torino).

According to Deadline, the show will center “on a former cop serving time in afterlife limbo who hunts down earthly criminals on behalf of the dead — and mortals soon to be dead, if ultimate justice is not served.”

Warner Bros. TV will produce with Gerber Pictures.
