Seth MacFarlane to Reboot The Flintstones

The modern stone age family is about get post-modern. Seth MacFarlane, the creator of “Family Guy,” “American Dad” and “The Cleveland Show” has his sights set on rebooting “The Flintstones,” Deadline reports.

Very little is known about what a reboot of the classic 1960’s Hanna-Barbera cartoon will entail, but MacFarlane is said to have worked out rights issues to bring the property to 20th Century Fox where he will develop the property as a network animated sitcom, presumably to air alongside his other Sunday night series.

A comical take on a prehistoric family, “The Flintstones” ran for six seasons, setting a record for a primetime animated series that would not be beat for nearly thirty years (when it was overtaken by “The Simpsons”).

MacFarlane, who is currently in-production on his feature directing debut, Ted, is also said to have the film rights to “The Flintstones” and could pursue a feature film version at some point in the future.
