ABC Orders Damage Control Half-Hour Comedy from Marvel Television

Marvel Television is expanding its union with ABC with the latter ordering a half-hour single camera comedy based on the comic book Damage Control to be developed by “The Daily Show’s” Ben Karlin.

Damage Control is a little different from other Marvel Comics characters in that it’s a rotating group of characters who work for a corporation that’s involved with cleaning up after the destruction caused by superhero battles in the Marvel Universe.

Unlike other Marvel characters, Damage Control has never had an ongoing series, instead appearing in a number of mini-series dating back to 1989, but they regularly appear in various Marvel Comics (especially during events) often doing as much damage as good.

This would be Marvel Television’s first half-hour comedy, although it’s hard to determine if and how the show might utilize or reference Marvel’s other shows or movie characters.

Karlin will develop and executive produce the project with “Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s” David Miner and Marvel’s head of television, Jeph Loeb. It’s a co-production of ABC and Marvel Television.

Presuming that the series gets a go from its pilot, it would be the fifth collaboration between Marvel and ABC.
