2013 was a good year for horror comics. Not only was there as huge resurgence in licensed characters, but the world of creator-owned comics is still expanding and with writers/artists looking to control their creations now more than ever we can expect original and hard hitting comics to continue, just like they did this year. There was a big crop of things to choose from, but I think I’ve covered all the bases, not just in terms of quality but in the forms of horror on display.
Selecting the top 10 horror movies of 2013, in my opinion, came easy. In previous years, I struggled, limiting myself to eight selections or five or finding other ways to spin movies I just “liked” but didn’t really “love.” I had a hard timing commiting, you might say. This year, when I put pen to paper, the titles I considered the best just rolled out in no time (as did the “worst” of the year).
There was a lot to offer genre fans this year. While there were a handful of wide releases, horror exploded on the limited theatrical/VOD scene.
