Warner Bros. has premiered the first Edge of Tomorrow trailer, the new sci-fi film starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt with Doug Liman (The Bourne Identity) at the helm.
Set for release on June 6, 2014, the film is something of a future-set Groundhog Day in which Cruise stars as Lt. Col. Bill Cage, an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously demoted and dropped directly into the mix where he’s killed within minutes, managing to take an alpha alien down with him. The twist in the narrative is that he awakens back at the beginning of the same day, forced to fight again and subsequently die again, and again, and again… as he’s thrown into some sort of a time loop.
I personally love Cruise and will show up to watch most anything he’s in, but without having watched this trailer I can’t say I’m immediately in the bag for this idea and Liman doesn’t necessarily inspire much confidence. What do you think?
