I think it’s pretty safe to say we’re getting close to hearing Walter Salles‘ On the Road will be playing the Cannes Film Festival as it is still without a distributor but MK2 is doing everything they can to build some buzz as they recently premiered a poster and photos for the film which stars Garrett Hedlund, Sam Riley and Kristen Stewart and have now premiered the first trailer via their Facebook page.
The film is an adaptation of Jack Kerouac’s landmark novel, “On the Road”, and follows the story of Sal Paradise, an aspiring New York writer as he meets Dean Moriarty, a wild and infectiously charismatic ex-con. They hit it off immediately. Determined to avoid the pitfalls of a narrow, prescribed life, Sal hits the road, joining Dean on what evolves into a life-changing physical and emotional odyssey. Thirsting for freedom, they discover the world, the ecstasy of experience, the connectedness of humanity and ultimately themselves.
Among the supporting cast is an impressive list of names including Amy Adams, Tom Sturridge, Alice Braga, Elizabeth Moss, Danny Morgan, Kirsten Dunst and Viggo Mortensen.
