The Trailer for Found-Footage Time Travel Film Welcome to Yesterday!

Paramount Pictures and Platinum Dunes have revealed the first trailer for their upcoming film Welcome to Yesterday which you can check out in the player below!

ComingSoon.net had the opportunity to visit the set of the film in Atlanta this past summer where we spoke with much of the cast, screenwriter Andrew Stark, producer Brad Fuller and director Dean Israelite.

The film came about after Platinum Dunes began looking for a project with a smaller budget in a similar vein to last year’s hit Chronicle. They soon came across a spec script from writers Andrew Stark and Jason Pagan titled “Almanac,” a found-footage movie about time travel. The central theme of the film is the question, “If you had a time machine, what would you do?”

The film stars Jonny Weston in the lead role of David, one member in a group of teenage friends that do exactly what you think they’d do with a time machine. The group also includes Ginny Gardner as David’s sister Christina, Sam Lerner as his friend Quinn, Allen Evangelista as Adam and Sofia Black-D’Elia as the girl of his dreams, Jessie. In the film, David stumbles upon the remains of the building blocks of a time machine and after putting it together, brings his friends along for some misadventures in the very recent past.

The scene we saw being filmed back in July had the principal cast hanging out at a music festival with a colorful array of extras all wandering around. What makes this music festival so special is that the friends weren’t able to attend it originally, but thanks to their “new toy” were able to go back and have the time of their lives.

Check back here for our full report from the set of Welcome to Yesterday soon. Welcome to Yesterday opens in theaters on February 28, 2014.
