Story:

A school bus carrying cheerleaders, basketball players and coaches are stranded on a deserted country highway. Unfortunately for them, it was the Jeepers Creepers monster who disabled their bus and he is hungry.

What Worked:

I liked how they just started the movie by explaining that every 23 seasons he feeds for 23 days. This is day 22. Then they start the movie. This entire film is the last two days of his feeding, the hunt.

The special effects were great, especially when the creature is in flight. The word creepy comes to mind when the creature is outside the bus looking in, it gave me the willies.

I liked that there were no big named stars in Jeepers Creepers 2. That way I don’t know them or care about them and you also won’t know when it’s their time to die on-screen.

What Didn’t Work:

I didn’t like that the filmmakers felt they had to sum up the first film by bringing in Justin Long from the original in a dead cameo, warning the students thru a vision.

This movie experience was affected by two factors. In all my years of attending screenings, this one was the worst. Over 40 parents decided to bring their children, ages 4-10, to this R-rated movie. I don’t know what parents are thinking these days. Between walking them back and forth to the restroom and snack bar I couldn’t enjoy the movie cause I was either moving to let them back and forth or worrying that when someone on screen got their head ripped off, that some child would have nightmares for life.

The other factor was the loud talking. For some reason 60 percent of the audience felt the need to either talk back to the characters onscreen or talk aloud to the person next to them. Everything from former movies they saw to what they were doing that weekend. I moved once closer to the front to get away from it but it was actually worse the closer I got to the screen. People need to remember they are not at home.

The great opening of this film was ruined cause when the movie requires silence to heighten the scare, all you heard was chatter.

Bottom Line:

Jeepers Creepers 2 is good scary fun. I am shocked that I liked it. I’m not a big fan of the horror genre. Rated R for violence, gore and language. No nudity. Bummer.
