Kristen Stewart to Become One of Charlie’s Angels?

Sony Pictures is looking at making Kristen Stewart one of Charlie’s Angels in the upcoming reboot of the franchise, according to Variety. The former Twilight star would play one of the members of the female private detective agency. The trade says that Kristen Stewart is not the only name being considered, with Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o also being eyed for a role by the studio.

Sony previously announced that the new Charlie’s Angels film open in theaters on June 7, 2019. The film will be directed by Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2) from a script by Doug Miro and Carlo Bernard (writers and producers for the Netflix series Narcos).

The franchise began with a TV show that ran from 1976-1981 starring Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith and Cheryl Ladd. There were two films, Charlie’s Angels in 2000 and Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle in 2003, starring Cameron Diaz, Drew Barrymore and Lucy Liu. The sequel added Demi Moore.

In 2011, ABC premiered a new Charlie’s Angels series from Alfred Gough and Miles Millar, starring Annie Ilonzeh, Minka Kelly and Rachael Taylor, though it only lasted for four episodes before being pulled from the lineup.

The film will be produced with Banks and Max Handelman for their Brownstone production company. Andrea Giannetti will oversee the film for Sony.
