Rogue One: A Star Wars Story Opens to $29 Million on Thursday

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story debuted with the biggest Thursday preview of the year with $29.0 million, ahead of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice ($27.7M) and Captain America: Civil War ($25.0M).

Internationally, the film is playing in 47 territories thus far and with about $33 million from the 60% of the marketplace open through yesterday and a dominant #1 in all markets, it’s looking like a big weekend and a strong run ahead. Some of the key overrseas markets include the UK ($5.0M), Australia ($3.6M), Germany and France ($3.1M), and Rogue One posted the highest opening day of 2016 in Australia, Germany, Austria, Belgium, Scandinavia and Switzerland.
