Star Wars fans are wondering if Patty Jenkins‘ Rogue Squadron film is happening and whether the Wonder Woman director is still writing and directing the project. Here is all that is known.
Is the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie still happening?
The Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie is reportedly still happening according to Patty Jenkins.
In a recent appearance on the Talking Pictures TCM podcast with Ben Mankiewicz, the Wonder Woman director discussed the matter. Jenkins claimed that the Star Wars: Rogue Squadron movie is happening and that she is back to writing and directing the project.
Patty Jenkins also mentioned in the podcast that she had signed a deal with Lucasfilm and Disney to return to work on the project. This came after she originally left to work on Wonder Woman 3. The threequel was ultimately canceled by James Gunn and Peter Safran in the wake of their DC Studios takeover. (via Collider):
“So, when I left Star Wars to do Wonder Woman 3, I thought maybe I’ll come back to Star Wars after Wonder Woman 3,” Jenkins explained. “So we did a deal for that to happen, started a deal, but I thought I was doing Wonder Woman. When that went away, Lucasfilm and I were like, oh, we gotta finish this deal. We finished the deal right as the strike was happening. So I now owe a draft of Star Wars and so we will see what happens there. You know, like, who knows?”
This update on Star Wars: Rogue Squadron comes roughly three years after the project was first announced by Lucasfilm at Disney’s Investor Day 2020. It also comes one year after the project was pulled from Disney’s release calendar (via Variety).

Patty Jenkins is reportedly still attached to write and direct the Rogue Squadron movie.
