New Saw Movie and More Movie Release Date Updates

Lionsgate set new release dates for three of its upcoming 2017 films, including The Hitman’s Bodyguard, set to debut August 18, 2017; The Commuter, which will be released on October 13, 2017; and a new Saw movie, which will play a new game on October 27, 2017.

In additional release date news, EuropaCorp has set a release date for Miss Sloane on December 9, 2016 and The Weinstein Company’s The Founder will now hit theaters in limited release on December 16, 2016 before going wide on Jan. 20, 2017.

The Hitman’s Bodyguard stars Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L. Jackson, Salma Hayek, Gary Oldman, and Elodie Yung. Directed by Patrick Hughes (The Expendables 3Red Hill) and written by Tom O’Connor (Fire with Fire) the film is described as follows: The world’s top protection agent (Ryan Reynolds) gets a new client: a hit man who came in from the cold (Samuel L. Jackson). They’ve been on the opposite ends of a bullet for years. Now they must team up and have only 24 hours to get to The Hague to bring down a murderous dictator (Gary Oldman).

The Commuter stars Liam Neeson and Vera Farmiga. Jaume Collet-Serra (Non-Stop, Orphan) directs from a script by Byron Willinger & Philip de Blasi. In this action-packed thriller, Liam Neeson plays an insurance salesman, Michael, on his daily commute home, which quickly becomes anything but routine. After being contacted by a mysterious stranger, Michael is forced to uncover the identity of a hidden passenger on his train before the last stop. As he works against the clock to solve the puzzle, he realizes a deadly plan is unfolding and is unwittingly caught up in a criminal conspiracy. One that carries life and death stakes for himself and his fellow passengers.

The eighth Saw movie will be directed by Michael and Peter Spierig (Daybreakers).

Miss Sloane is directed by Oscar-nominated John Madden (Shakespeare in Love, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and is based on the original screenplay by Jonathan Perera. Oscar-nominated actress Jessica Chastain (Zero Dark Thirty, Interstellar) stars in the title role of Elizabeth Sloane. The film is produced by FilmNation’s Ben Browning and Archery Pictures’ Kris Thykier along with EuropaCorp’s Ariel Zeitoun, FilmNation’s Patrick Chu and Aaron Ryder serves as the executive producers.

Also starring in the film are Mark Strong (Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy), Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights), Michael Stuhlbarg (A Serious Man), Alison Pill (The Newsroom), Jake Lacy (Carol), Oscar-nominated actor Sam Waterston (The Killing Fields), and Oscar-nominated John Lithgow.

Miss Sloane is the story a ruthless lobbyist (Jessica Chastain) who is notorious for her unparalleled talent and her desire to win at all costs, even when it puts her own career at risk. The thriller pulls back the curtain on how Capitol Hill games are played and won as Sloane faces off against the most influential powers in D.C.

The Founder stars Michael Keaton, Nick Offerman, Linda Cardellini, Laura Dern, BJ Novak, and John Carroll Lynch. John Lee Hancock directs from a script by Robert D. Siegel. In 1954 milkshake machine salesman Ray Kroc walked into a hamburger stand in San Bernardino and saw the future. Sheer determination, ambition and a bit of ruthlessness allowed Kroc to leap into the American Dream and go from a blue collar salesman to a white collar shark.
