Zendaya joins Hugh Jackman in The Greatest Showman on Earth

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney Channel starlet-turned-movie star Zendaya (Spider-Man: Homecoming) is in talks to join 20th Century Fox‘s P.T. Barnum biopic The Greatest Showman on Earth. The actress/singer will join leading man Hugh JackmanZac Efron and Michelle Williams in Hollywood’s first original studio musical in over two decades. She will play a trapeze artist and Efron’s love interest.

The Greatest Showman on Earth, scripted by Sex in the City writer Jenny Bicks, offers a musical take on the life of P.T. Barnum, specifically focusing on the creation of his three-ring circus and his infatuation with “Swedish Nightingale” Jenny Lind.

Hugh Jackman, who is currently filming his reportedly final X-Men franchise appearance in the still-untitled Wolverine 3, will himself produce The Greatest Showman on Earth alongside Laurence Mark and Chernin Entertainment. Michael Arndt (Toy Story 3, Star Wars: The Force Awakens) penned the screenplay.
