Studio Ghibli has announced it will next adapt May Norton’s fantasy classic “The Borrowers,” says Variety.
Titled Karigurashi no Arrietty (“Arrietty Borrows Everything”), the animated film is being directed by studio animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi under the supervision of Ghibli maestro Hayao Miyazaki. The release is scheduled for summer 2010 with Toho distributing.
Published in 1952, “The Borrowers” centers on a family of little people who live by “borrowing” from normal-sized humans.
Studio Ghibli has already launched an official website for the film where you can check out the first image.
