On the publicity trailer for Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, Tom Cruise was chatty when it came to a Mission: Impossible 6 (he said it would film next summer) as well as a possible Edge of Tomorrow sequel. His next film is Mena with Edge director Doug Liman, but after that he’ll move to Jack Reacher 2 with his Last Samurai helmer Ed Zwick directing and now we know his co-star.
Avengers co-star Cobie Smulders is in early talks to play the female lead in the feature which will be based on author Lee Child’s “Never Go Back,” in which Reacher (Cruise) travels to U.S. Army Military Police Corps headquarters and finds his commanding officer has been arrested.
Production on the film is expected to begin in November with Paramount planning a late 2016 release. Cruise’s Mena, meanwhile, isn’t set to hit theaters until Jan 6, 2017. [The Wrap]
